~ Life is like a boat ~

เมื่อสักครู่นี้ได้ยินเสียงรายการโทรทัศน์รายการหนึ่ง ที่ดูเหมือนจะเป็นรายการนำเที่ยวในประเทศอิตาลีค่ะ ช่วงที่ได้ยินเป็นช่วงที่ผู้ดำเนินรายการกำลังพูดถึงเมืองฟลอเรนซฺ/ฟิเรนเซ่ (Florence/Firenze) อยู่ ก็เลยแอบตั้งใจฟังหน่อยว่าเขาพูดถึงอะไรบ้าง นอกจากสถานที่สำคัญ สถานที่ท่องเที่ยว ประติมากรรมต่างๆ ที่พบอยู่รอบเมืองแล้ว ฉันได้ยินการพูดถึงตระกูลเมดิชี่ (Medici) ซึ่งเป็นหนึ่งในตระกูล "เจ้าผู้ครองเมือง" ฟลอเรนซฺ อยู่เพียงครั้งเดียว ทั้งๆ ที่ตระกูลนี้ก็จัดว่ามี "ชื่อเสียง" ใช้ย่อยในประวัติศาสตร์ยุโรปนะคะ โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในช่วงยุคกลาง เรียกว่าถ้านึกถึงเมืองฟลอเรนซฺ ก็จะมีภาพของบุคคลในตระกูลนี้ลอยเข้ามาประหนึ่งเป็น Trademark กันเลยทีเดียว

ถ้าพูดถึงเมืองฟลอเรนซฺแล้วเลือกที่จะข้ามชื่อของ "ลอเรนโซ เดอ เมดิชี่" (ลอเรนโซ่ เดอะ แมกนิฟิเซ่นทฺ) ไปนี่ ...เหมือนจะขาดๆ อะไรไปสักอย่างเลยนะ

อิทธิพลของตระกูลที่ว่านี้ใช่จะมีเพียงแต่ในเมืองหรือเมืองของชนเชื้อชาติอิตาเลียนนะคะ ถ้าเอ่ยถึง "แคทเธอรีน เดอ เมดิชี่" ขึ้นมา คอประวัติศาสตร์ฝรั่งเศสหลายๆ คนก็น่าจะร้อง "อ๋อ~!" กันเลยล่ะ

...แต่ทำไมรายการนี้ไม่ยอมกล่าวถึงตระกูลที่ว่านี้เลยนะ?

หรือเพราะว่าตระกูลเมดิชี่ออกจะมีชื่อเสียงในทางไม่ค่อยดีมากสักหน่อย เลยไม่อยากพูดถึง

หรือติดด้วยข้อจำกัดด้านเวลากันแน่?

Just a moment ago, I heard a certain TV programme - apprarently a travel programme - about Italy. The section that I heard was on the city of Florence/Firenze. So, I felt a bit curious to find out what they were talking about. Apart from significant places, tourists' attractions and those many sculptures displaying around the city, I heard them talking about one of the ruling houses of Florence - the "Medici" - just for a tiny moment. That sounds bit too strange to me. I mean, the Medici were actually a famous family in European history, especially during the Middle Ages. Let's say, many faces of this family would automatically pop up if someone's talking about Florence - as though they were a sort of Trademark of this city.

It seemed bit incomplete to talk about the City of Florence without mentioning the name "Lorenzo De' Medici" or "Lorenze the Magnificent", didn't it?

Moreover, the Medici's influence basically expanded far beyond the Italian borders. Well, the name "Catherine De' Medici" would ring a big bell to those interested in French history, wouldn't it? 

That's why I was pretty curious why this TV programme seemed to pay very little attention to such a famous family of Florence...

Or they chose to drop it because of the many dark sides of the Medici?

Or would it be due to the very limited time they had?
